Are you considering changing your hair color? Here’s what you need to know to make your hair your most beautiful feature.
If you have dark hair and want an uncommon color or blonde, bleaching is an option for you. But before you do, prepare your hair! Bleaching can be very damaging because it destroys the hair’s structure and gets rid of the color – for weak, brittle or dry hair, the process will be too harsh and potentially fatal. Therefore, before you bleach your hair, nourish it with oils, masks and conditioners that respect the PEH balance.
Before you bleach your hair, you need to wait at least 24 hours after your last wash. This is important because it will help your hair retain its natural protective layer and reduce the chance of damage. For the same reason, you shouldn’t keep a bleach containing 3-6% oxidants in your hair for more than 45 minutes, and you can opt for as little as 30 minutes the first time you try bleaching on your own. To wash off the bleach, use a low pH shampoo recommended by the manufacturer of the product you are using.
When choosing a bleach or dye, pay attention to the ingredients and the company. Avoid cheap, drugstore products with uncertain properties – opt for those that come from hairdressing wholesalers. If you are not sure if you can apply bleach or dye correctly, a professional salon will be the solution for you hair coloring at a professional salon. We recommend such a choice also when drastically changing the color by at least a few tones, because the use of brighteners with oxidant content exceeding 9-12% should always take place under the supervision of a hairdresser.
It is very important to take good care of your hair after the coloring treatment. Make sure to use conditioners and masks to help strengthen your hair but do not overdo it as this can cause unnecessary strain. Start at the ends and work your way up to the roots to avoid pulling your hair out. And if you’re not happy with the result, go for another color change carefully, remembering to strengthen your hair and take a few days between treatments.
