Glycerin bar soap has been around in one form or another since the late 1700s, but its popularity is still going strong today. Whether you’re using it at home or at work, you’ll find that glycerin soap has a number of distinct benefits to offer you when compared to other kinds of bar soap like castile soap or coconut oil soap. Take a look at some of the reasons that glycerin bar soap can be such an effective tool to help you clean and sanitize your hands, your hair, your body and even your face!

The history of glycerin soap

One of the first glycerin soaps was created by a soapmaker named William Sheppard. He used a recipe that included olive oil and beef fat. Glycerin soap is made by mixing vegetable oils and animal fats with sodium hydroxide, water, and glycerol. The mixture is heated and stirred until it becomes liquid. Then it goes through a process called saponification, which makes the soap harden into bars or blocks while removing any excess water. These glycerin soap bars are usually wrapped in paper or plastic and can be used for both hand washing and bathing. Since glycerin is added to the soap during production, it leaves your skin feeling smooth and soft. It also provides some natural moisturizing properties. A downside to this type of bar is its short shelf life; it only lasts about six months before mould begins to form on the outside surface.

What is it?

Glycerin soap is a type of soap that lathers well and has the best properties of both liquid and solid soaps. It’s made from vegetable oils, animal fats or both, along with water and glycerin. You can find this soap in any grocery store or drugstore. It’s often used by people who have skin conditions like eczema because it’s less harsh than other soaps. Glycerin soap also doesn’t dry out your skin like most bar soaps do because it contains moisturizers like shea butter. That means you’re not only getting clean but also conditioning your skin at the same time. Plus, if you’re prone to allergic reactions when you use detergents, fragrances and other chemicals found in regular soaps, you might want to try glycerin soap. Many people report having fewer allergy symptoms when they switch to this kind of soap.

It’s very affordable (usually between $1-2 per bar) which makes it an excellent choice for kids as they grow up and develop sensitive skin.

If you tend to have oily skin (or your child does), I would recommend using unscented glycerin bars instead of those scented ones for children under 12 years old as some scents may be irritating or sensitizing for their delicate systems.

The best uses for glycerin soap

Glycerin soap is perfect for all skin types, including sensitive skin. It’s a natural moisturizer and soothing agent that can help heal irritated skin. Glycerin soap is also ideal for dry, itchy, flaky patches of skin caused by conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. And it’s gentle enough for babies, too! With so many benefits, glycerin soap is a must-have in your home.

Where can you find it?

You can find glycerin bar soap at most grocery stores and drug stores. These bars of soap are made with natural ingredients and are rich in moisturizers that will leave your skin feeling soft and supple.  One great thing about these products is that you don’t need any fancy equipment to use them–you just need some hot water and a washcloth or sponge. The soap is so gentle on the skin, it’s perfect for even the most sensitive people out there. What sets this type of soap apart from other types, though, is that it lasts much longer than liquid soap would- often up to six months- because it doesn’t have all the extra chemicals like detergents and fragrance oils. Another added bonus? Glycerin bar soaps are available scented or unscented, depending on what your personal preference may be!

How do you use it?

We all know that soaps dry our skin. That’s because they are made with harsh chemicals and detergents. Glycerin bar soap is the perfect solution to this problem. It moisturizes your skin while cleansing it, leaving you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated after a long day of work or play.
